The Ratchet & Clank series has been circling the drain with All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault. Does Nexus get the series back on track or does it put another nail in Ratchet’s coffin.
The game is fun, the gunplay is awesome. The basic gameplay is basically classic Ratchet through and through. The zero-g gameplay was hyped and although it is fun it is not really zero gravity. You pretty much just launch yourself onto walls but the physics look cool. The Clank gameplay is entertaining sometimes the gravity manipulation makes it hard to walk around. The jetpack makes the game fun with vertical levels.
The game looks great the vistas look amazing and the lighting is great. In the Igliak planet there was a huge gunfight with about 20 enemies and the game did not take a hitch in the frame rate department.
The game is pretty short but the price makes up for it in price. The collectibles are good I haven’t got the RYNO yet but I plan to. I will play it in challenge mode to get everything.
The story is good, the writing is mostly funny. Two characters do die but it doesn’t really have any emotional impact on the player though. The story is mostly great with a few dents in it.
All of the classic voice actors return with the exception of the Grummel-Net weapon vendor guy.
The game has almost no loading times the navigation map is cool. However you can only have one save file which is annoying.
Ratchet & Clank Nexus is a great game it is a fun-creative game. Some assets have been reused from previous games. This is a budget Ratchet game but it is better than a lot of other big budget titles.
